The league seasons are drawing closer and closer, but in the meantime the clubs are in full swing in order to bolster their squads for the coming season. Here are some of the latest done deals and rumors.

Atletico Signs Gameiro

Atletico Madrid has finalized a €32 million move for striker Kevin Gameiro from La Liga rivals Sevilla. Gameiro leaves the Europa League champions after three seasons and 68 goals in 141 appearances in all competitions. The 29-year-old Frenchman is coming off his best season in La Liga, scoring 16 league goals in 31 appearances, along with eight goals in 14 European cup matches.

Atletico Madrid’s sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero sees the signing as “great news, since he is a reinforcement that will allow us to increase the competitiveness in the offensive part of the group. He is a very fast player, a great finisher and has been competing for several years in the Spanish League, so his adaptation will be easier. He is a forward used to pressuring the rival’s attack and tireless in his effort, so he fits perfectly into what we wanted to strengthen our attack.”

Gameiro has signed a four-year deal with the Champions League finalists. Luciano Vietto will join Sevilla on loan in addition to the €32 million.

Middlesbrough Finalize Guzan Move

Premier League newcomers Middlesbrough has signed U.S. international goalkeeper brad Guzan on a two-year contract. The 31-year-old American was reportedly allowed to leave Aston Villa on a free transfer. Guzan spent eight years at Villa, and made 28 appearances last season as Villa crashed out of the Premier League.

Guzan will act as the backup for Victor Valdes who Middlesbrough signed earlier in the summer. Guzan has made 144 Premier League appearances, along with 50 caps for the United States.

Lazio Signs Immobile

Lazio has completed a €8.5 million move for Ciro Immobile from La Liga side Sevilla. Immobile, 26, leaves the Europa League champions after spending the second half of last season on loan at Torino where he scored five goals in 14 appearances. The Naples native was part of Italy’s Euro 2016 squad and made two appearances in the tournament. Immobile has signed a five-year contract with the club.

D.C. United Trade For Igboananike

D.C. United has completed a trade for Nigerian striker Kennedy Igboananike from the Chicago Fire. United sent over targeted allocation money and their natural third round selection in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft. Igboananike, 27, scored 11 goals in 49 appearances for Chicago since joining the club in 2015 from Swedish side AIK.

“We are pleased to have acquired Kennedy,” Dave Kasper, United general manager and VP of soccer operations said. “He has shown in a short amount of time in MLS that he is a dangerous attacker who can create and score goals.”

Besiktas Completes Adriano Transfer

Turkish champions Besiktas JK has signed left back Adriano from FC Barcelona for an initial fee of €600,000 with the possibility of another €1.7 million should Besiktas qualify for the Champions League. Barcelona confirmed the deal on their website.

“FC Barcelona and Besiktas JK have come to an agreement for the transfer of Adriano Correia for the amount of €600,000, plus up to €1.7m more if Besiktas were to qualify for the Uefa Champions League while Adriano’s contract is still in force.

“The club wishes Adriano the best of luck with his new team.”

The 31-year-old Brazilian made 190 appearances for Barcelona during his six seasons with the club and won four La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies.
