The league seasons are drawing closer and closer, but in the meantime the clubs are in full swing in order to bolster their squads for the coming season. Here are some of the latest done deals and rumors.
Atletico Signs Gameiro
Atletico Madrid has finalized a €32 million move for striker Kevin Gameiro from La Liga rivals Sevilla. Gameiro leaves the Europa League champions after three seasons and 68 goals in 141 appearances in all competitions. The 29-year-old Frenchman is coming off his best season in La Liga, scoring 16 league goals in 31 appearances, along with eight goals in 14 European cup matches.
Atletico Madrid’s sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero sees the signing as “great news, since he is a reinforcement that will allow us to increase the competitiveness in the offensive part of the group. He is a very fast player, a great finisher and has been competing for several years in the Spanish League, so his adaptation will be easier. He is a forward used to pressuring the rival’s attack and tireless in his effort, so he fits perfectly into what we wanted to strengthen our attack.”
Gameiro has signed a four-year deal with the Champions League finalists. Luciano Vietto will join Sevilla on loan in addition to the €32 million.
