Barcelona Qualify For Club World Cup Final

A hat trick by Luis Suarez against Guangzhou Evergrande on Thursday at the Yokohama Stadium secured Barcelona a spot in the Club World Cup Final.

Barcelona beat the Chinese champions 3-0 with Suarez stepping up as the Catalans were missing both Neymar and Lionel Messi.

Suarez opened up the scoring in the 39th minute to give Barcelona a 1-0 lead at halftime. In the second half he grabbed his second goal in the 50th minute before capping off his hat trick from the penalty spot in the 67th minute.

Barcelona will take on Argentine side River Plate in the final on Sunday. Midfielder Sergio Busquets gave his take on the game against Guangzhou Evergrande and the final against River Plate after the game.

“We have completed our first objective with flying colors,” Busquets told fcbarcelona.com.

“We have to be really concentrated during the entire game and that is not easy because they were an unknown team who had knocked out América as underdogs, but we have done it and we are happy”

“Now we have to face River and we know that there is a lot at stake. It will be difficult but pleasant, but we will do everything we can to be champions.”

Manager Luis Enrique was pleased with the win and described Suarez as an “assassin in the area, a killer, a player who can finish off any kind of move. And if we add his defensive abilities, which infect the rest of the team, we could say that he’s an essential player for us.”
