American Investors To Buy Stake In Palace

Crystal Palace is on the verge of getting new a co-owner in the form of Josh Harris, the American businessman that owns the New Jersey Devils of the NHL.

Harris and his business partner David Blitzer has been looking to get into the Premier League for a while now, with more and American investment groups taking an interest in the English game. Harris also owns the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA. Harris is the co-founder of Apollo Global Management.

Reports are that Harris has struck a deal in principal to buy a sizeable amount of shares in the club. The Guardian reported that Harris and Blitzer first started talking to Palace co-chair Steve Parish about a year ago.

“There are very serious conversations going on and I will remain the single largest shareholder along with David and Josh,” Parish told Sky Sports News HQ. “The day-to-day decision making control will remain the same. They will bring some fresh ideas and some fresh input which will be great.

“But I think the guys recognise that having a UK partner retains the soul of the football club which is really important and it’s important to me that my three other partners will stay involved as well. It will be a much broader investment base and everyone is signing up to a commitment to improve the stadium. So it’s an exciting time and if it comes off I think we can make some major developments for the club.”

Harris is reportedly worth $2.1 billion. Palace sits in 8th place in the Premier League with 19 points in 12 games.
