West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has praised Jose Mourinho ahead of West Ham’s meeting with Chelsea this weekend.
Bilic told The Daily Mail that he likes everything about Mourinho, and that the Portuguese manager actually texted him after he got the job at West Ham earlier this year.
“It was the day after I signed at West Ham and I was back home in Split, in Croatia, and I got a text,” Bilic said.
“I thought someone was winding me up, of course. But then Demba Ba called me from Istanbul and said the boss had called him and asked for my number.
“It was a good text, it said: ‘good luck’ and ‘I hope you’re going to do well.’ I was pleased. Since then we are exchanging texts.”
Bilic holds Mourinho as one, if not the best, managers in the game.
“There are a few of them, and it’s only a matter of taste who is the best,” Bilic said.
“For me he’s everything. I mean results, since the time he came on the stage, success straight away.
“He wins major trophies. Chelsea didn’t do it before and straight away, he takes them into the big time.
“Inter Milan were waiting for the Champions League trophy since the ‘60s.
“Then Real Madrid at a time when Barcelona were probably the team of the decade, he won the league and the cup and then with Chelsea again.
”’It’s the results; the charisma, he’s not boring. He’s anything but boring, for the media as well, he is like a magnet. I like him a lot.”
