Jack Grealish has been left out of the Aston Villa squad for the team’s game against Southampton on Saturday at St. Mary’s Stadium.
Grealish, 20, has been left out of the squad for the second week in a row after photos surfacing of the player partying at a nightclub after Villa’s 4-0 defeat to Everton on Nov. 21.
“Jack has trained again with the Under 21s this week, it was the plan with him, we knew that,” manager Remi Garde told The Daily Mail. “I know when he might return to the team, he knows.
“Jack made a mistake, he has to pay the consequence for that, like every player.
“If another player does something wrong he will have the same treatment. Jack is young, he will be back in the team. When he is fully committed he can be a good player.”
Garde also spoke about the injury situation at the club. One player that could be available on Saturday is striker Gabriel Agbonlahor, as the 29-year-old has been training with the first team during the week.
“Gabby has trained this week with the group,” Garde said. “Tiago Ilori is still not fully fit to be selected. Jose Crespo is not available for selection this weekend.”
Villa is bottom of the Premier League table with a mere five points after 14 games. The only win of the season came on Opening Day against newcomers Bournemouth. Garde acknowledged that the club needs to start picking up points if they are to avoid relegation.
“We are in a bad position,” Garde said. “We have to win games. We should have got a better result against Watford. We made too many mistakes. But the commitment and the way we tried to win that game pleased me.”
