Inter maintained their spot at the top of Serie A after beating Udinese 4-0 on the road on Saturday. Mauro Icardi got a brace in the win to bring his season tally up to six.
Icardi gave Inter the lead in the 23rd minute, with Jovetic making it 2-0 eight minutes later. Icardi added his second in the 84th minute before Brozovic closed out the scoring three minutes later. It was a fairly even match as far as possession and shots on goal, but Inter showed a lethal touch in the final third of the pitch.
“We played really well today and this is a tough place to come to. Of course I’m delighted to get back among the goals – it’s important for a striker,” Jovetic told inter.it after the win. “I’m pleased to score and even more pleased we won.”
Jovetic also said that he believes that him and Icardi could make a great striker partnership.
“I’ve always said we could form a great partnership,” Jovetic said. “We get on well and as we play more together we’ll just get better.”
Inter sits at the top of the Serie A standings with 36 points, and Jovetic added that he believes that the Nerazzurri can make a run at the title.
“Of course we need to believe,” Jovetic said. “I believe we can do it and so does the rest of the team. Obviously there are another four or five teams in the mix but we want to be right up there.”
