Tottenham Hotspur hasn’t lost a Premier League game since Opening Day, and Harry Kane is convinced that the Spurs can compete with anyone.
The 22-year-old England striker found the back of the net again in the 1-1 draw in the North London Derby against Arsenal on Sunday.
Kane told The Guardian that the game against Arsenal “shows that we can be up there with the big teams … we probably deserved to win against Liverpool, we beat City and probably maybe deserved to win [against Arsenal] as well.”
Tottenham has shored things up defensively this season, and Kane was quick to praise the defensive side of their game.
“We’ve got a great defensive unit,” Kane said. “They’ve been playing very well and not conceding a lot of goals and I think our team will always score goals as well – we’ve got a lot of players who create chances and score goals. It’s just about doing things right and keeping our heads and keep trying to get better.”
Spurs sits in 5th place in the Premier League standings with 21 points in 12 games. Heading into the international break, Kane thinks that Tottenham can go into the break with their heads held high.
“We played great football, we played good possession, pressed them high up the pitch, won the ball back high and created a lot of chances,” Kane said. “So it wasn’t like we were hanging on for a point or hanging on for the 1-0 – we were still playing well. But of course if you don’t kill teams off like Arsenal or the top teams, you get punished and that’s what happened but a point away at the Emirates isn’t the worst result in the world.”
