It took a penalty in order for Liverpool to secure a win over Swansea at Anfield on Sunday. James Milner scored from the spot to give the Reds the three points.
The win took Liverpool up to 6th place in the Premier League standings. Manager Jurgen Klopp was pleased with the win.
“It was good – it was good in many parts of the game,” Klopp told liverpoolfc.com after the win.
“First of all, we accepted the circumstances and that was important. It was difficult and both teams had to play with the influence of the wind, but we had more ball possession so for us it was a little bit more difficult.
“We played against an opponent that were very, very organized – I think it was their best game in terms of defensive organization in their last two or three [matches]. We saw their last three [games] and some spaces where we could play, or thought we could play, but when we started we could see they watch their games too and had reacted to it! It was difficult.
“In the first 25 minutes, we had a good start in the game – a really good start – and then from this point on it was hard work for the rest of the game, which is normal.
“We scored a very important goal and defended really well – Simon Mignolet didn’t have that much work to do – so it was a big plus for the whole team. It was a good result and a good night.”
