Paul Pogba has declared himself fit enough to make his second Manchester United debut on Friday as the Red Devils hosts Southampton at Old Trafford.
Pogba, 23, became the world’s most expensive signing as United bought him back from Juventus this summer for £89 million. After missing out the season opener against Bournemouth through suspension, he’s now ready for the game on Friday.
“You have to ask the manager, but I feel very good and have been training for 10 days. I am okay,” Pogba said.
“I am quite used to this. I played the World Cup two years ago when at Juve and three years ago I was at the U20 World Cup as well. So I am okay. It is about your body and I have been training on my holidays.”
A lot of pressure usually comes with being the most expensive signing in the world, and now Pogba is at the top of the list ahead of Real Madrid duo Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo. But Pogba said it’s nothing that concerns him.
“I am just happy to play football, I don’t even think about it,” Pogba said.
“My ambition is always be the the No 1 and be the best. So the objective is to win the league. We want to go back to the Champions League because that is where we belong.”
United took a 3-1 win over Bournemouth in their season opener after goals by Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
