Chelsea suffered their seventh loss in the Premier League on Saturday, falling 1-0 to Stoke City. A game that Ramires thought they deserved to win.
Marko Arnautovic scored the lone goal of the game in the second half, and the result put Chelsea down in 16th place in the Premier League table. Brazilian midfielder Ramires believed that Chelsea deserved to win the game.
“Another loss and our moment in the Premier League is not good, but we will try,” Ramires told chelseafc.com. “Today we deserved to win the game but we didn’t. Now the Premier League stops again; the guys go to their national teams and we will work to come back and win.
“We played very well, but we didn’t score and that is football. If you play well, but don’t score, then concede a goal, you lose the game.”
Chelsea were without manager Jose Mourinho, as he was serving a one-game stadium ban, and Ramires acknowledged that it was weird not having Mourinho at the sideline or in the locker room at halftime.
“It was strange because always when we look to the bench, we can see the manager,” Ramires said. “Today he was not there, but we had Steve and Rui [assistant first-team coaches Steve Holland and Rui Faria] on the bench.
“[At half-time] they spoke with us to keep the same work as we did in the first half, but we didn’t score and we didn’t win the game.”
With 11 points in 12 games, the reigning champions sits in 16th place, only three points from the relegation zone.
