Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery is praising new manager Carlo Ancelotti for his way of interacting with the players.
Ribery, 33, was a critic of former Bayern boss Pep Guardiola and his man-management skills. He is now lauding Ancelotti for his ability to create a great atmosphere in the Bayern squad.
“Carlo Ancelotti is a chilled, accessible guy,” Ribery told Goal. “He loves his players, that’s what we realize. He is looking for contact, he laughs with us, he asks us how we are every day. This relationship is important.
“Don’t get me wrong — we are not kids anymore. We are experienced and we respect the coach. But you need this special relationship with the coach. It’s important you can have fun together. If you spend so much time with each other you can’t talk all the time only about football.
“Ancelotti is positive all the time. I’ve never heard a player who criticized him. To have a good team and good players is the one thing. To have a good close relationship is the other thing. Ancelotti is a champion in all respects. Otherwise it would be impossible to create such a harmonious atmosphere. That’s how you are successful together.”
Ribery had most of last season spoiled due to injury, but the Frenchman hopes that a good campaign can earn him a new deal as his current contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
“Maybe I am here for two or three more years,” Ribery said. “I don’t know what will happen. I have such good form, the rest will come.”
He also stated that the goal for the club is to win every trophy this season.
“We want to win everything,” Ribery said. “If I had to decide between Bundesliga and Champions League I would choose the Champions League, because it’s a bit more special, even [though the] Bundesliga is a great thing.
“I hope we will win all the titles this season.”
