Newcomers Watford won their fourth straight game as they picked up a 3-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday at Vicarage Road.
Nathan Ake scored the opening goal in the 3rd minute, his first for the Hornets. Ake, 20, is on loan from Chelsea and was very happy to net his first goal.
“I’ve been dreaming about this, and also to score against Liverpool it’s really nice for me personally,” Ake told watfordfc.com after the win. “I didn’t know how to celebrate, if you saw my celebration it was really bad, but I was really happy.”
Odion Ighalo made it 2-0 in the 15th minute and added a second in the 85th minute. Ighalo’s tally of 12 league goals puts him fourth in the scoring race behind Jamie Vardy (15), Riyad Mahrez (13) and Romelu Lukaku (13). Watford sits in 7th place with 28 points, but are just a single point from 4th-placed Tottenham Hotspur. Ake was pleased with another impressive win for the newcomers.
“It feels really good and of course everyone is happy,” Ake said. “I think we deserved it as well, we created chances, we defended well, especially in the first-half, so I’m really happy.
“It was really important to get an early lead, it gives you a boost and confidence. After that we kept pushing on and after the second goal we kept the pressure up and I think that helped.
“It was important to keep them off the ball and we did that. The second-half was a bit more difficult, the last 20 minutes or so, but after the third goal it was finished.”
