Mario Balotelli passed the medical exams and has joined AC Milan on loan for the season. The 25-year-old returns to the club after one season at Liverpool.
Balotelli underwent the medical exams at the Madonnina Clinic in Milan on Tuesday and was cleared by the medical staff. He’s set to join AC Milan on a season-long loan from Liverpool who bought the player from Milan last summer.
Balotelli spoke to the media after the exams and was happy about returning to Milan.
“I am happy to be back, Balotelli told acmilan.com. “I don’t have much to say because I just need to train and prove myself. Physically I am fit but I need to train with the squad. I am very motivated but I need to work hard and talk less. I always hoped I would return to Milan, the club hold a special place in my heart. Do I want to end my career here? I just want to get back to work and have a good season, I have to work and that is it.”
Balotelli had tough season last year with Liverpool, only scoring a single league goal in 16 appearances. During his year and a half at Milan, he scored 26 league goals in 43 games. The player had his first training session with his old club later in the day after getting cleared by the medical staff.
Milan did not have to pay Liverpool a loan fee as the player clearly was unwanted by the club, but will pick up half of Balotelli’s salary. Balotelli was one of three players that were shunned by manager Brendan Rodgers and banned from training with the first team.
