Reigning champions Chelsea are in a bad way, sitting in 17th with only four points after five games. Branislav Ivanovic realize that mistakes have cost them games.
Chelsea suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Everton on Saturday after a hat-trick by substitute Steven Naismith. The team struggled all over the pitch as the offense wasn’t clicking and the defense having huge troubles controlling Naismith.
Chelsea right back Branislav Ivanovic told the media that they need to regain focus and concentrate on their own game.
“We cannot think about catching other teams we just have to win game by game,” Ivanovic told The Guardian. “We must not think about anything else other than the next game. When you are not winning games it is difficult. All you can do is work hard, get back on the winning way. One big win and things will change for Chelsea.
“It is very difficult, especially now, when you see that we are not in our top form and I hope we will change it soon.
“It is already late for us. The game was hard but also the game changed. We tried and dominated most of the game but a couple of situations we lost concentration and we conceded goals. We are getting punished for all our mistakes.”
Chelsea takes on Maccabi Tel Aviv in the opening game of the Champions League group stage on Wednesday before hosting Arsenal in a London derby. Ivanovic and his teammates will look for a convincing victory over Tel Aviv and take that momentum into the game against Arsenal.
