Leicester has managed to stay undefeated in the Premier League after a 1-1 draw against Tottenham on Saturday thanks to a late equalizer by Riyad Mahrez.
Leicester has opened up the season in style, winning the two opening games against Sunderland and West Ham United. The Foxes were looking for a third straight as they hosted Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester has been playing some really exciting soccer to start the season, but they had to tweak things a bit against the Spurs as they saw far less of the ball. Tottenham had a vast majority of the possession and had 15 shots throughout the game, with six hitting the target.
After a scoreless first half, Riyad Mahrez came close to giving Leicester the lead in the 69th minute, but his shot ended up going off the post. Instead it was Tottenham that broke the deadlock late in the game as Dele Alli headed in the ball from close range in behind Kasper Schmeichel in the 81st minute.
The Tottenham fans had barely stopped celebrating Alli’s goal when Mahrez tied things up just seconds later with a great shot from the right hand side inside the penalty box. Mahrez has been spectacular, scoring four goals in the opening three games. The 24-year-old Algerian international has already tied the tally he had all last season.
