Mourinho Suspended For Halftime Outburst

Jose Mourinho has been suspended one game and fined £40,000 for his antics in halftime in Chelsea’s loss to West Ham last weekend.

Mourinho was sent to the stands in halftime after trying to get into the referee’s room to have words with Jon Moss. Mourinho will miss Chelsea game against Stoke City unless he decides to appeal the decision by the English Football Association.

The FA released the following statement on their website on Monday:

“Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, Jose Mourinho has been given a one-match stadium suspension with immediate effect and fined £40,000.

“The Chelsea manager admitted an FA charge of misconduct regarding his language and/or behaviour towards the match officials in or around the dressing room area during halftime of the game against West Ham United on 24 October 2015.

“With regard to Chelsea coach Silvino Louro, who denied an FA misconduct charge in relation to the same game, The FA, having considered further representation, withdrew the formal charge of improper conduct but reminded him of his responsibilities.”

This is the second time in a short time span that Mourinho has been charged by the FA for improper conduct, as he also received a fine and a suspended one-game stadium ban for his comments in the media after Chelsea’s loss to Southampton.

Reigning champions Chelsea sits in 15th place with a mere 11 points after 11 games. Recent reports from ESPN FC say that Mourinho has two game to prove that he still has what it takes to be the manager of the club.
