Zouma: ‘Things Are Turning’

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma believes that the team has turned a corner and that the dismal start of the season is behind them.

Chelsea held in-form Tottenham Hotspur to a 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane on Sunday. The point put Chelsea in 14th place. The Blues have 15 points in 14 games, and still have a long way up to the top teams.

After a miserable start to the season, Chelsea are now on a three-game unbeaten run. Next weekend, they will host an injury-riddled Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

“We are happy because we didn’t concede a goal,” Zouma told chelseafc.com after the draw against Tottenham.

“We wanted to win but I think it’s a good result for us. To play at Tottenham is always difficult and now we are happy with the point. Let’s keep going.

“Things are turning for us because we have been playing well for a few weeks now. We are very happy with a third clean sheet in three games. That gives us more confidence and we have to just keep going.

“We played away on Tuesday and then we had a long journey so we didn’t have a lot of time to train but the boss used a good formation because we didn’t concede a goal and we played well, so well done the team.”

Zouma also had some praise for teammate Eden Hazard, who has looked in much better form after a tough start to the season.

“Eden played amazingly well,” Zouma said. “He had some chances to score even though he is smaller than the defenders. He had a header and then a good shot in the second half. He could have scored but he was unlucky. For me he was the man of the match.”
