Another summer filled with transfer rumors in the world of soccer. Silly Season is the perfect fix for all soccer junkies during the time most European leagues are on break. Here are some of the latest signings and rumors.
Arsenal is chasing after Chelsea’s goalkeeper Petr Cech. It has been known for along time now that Cech wasn’t happy being the backup to Thibaut Courtois this season, and now the Telegraph reports that Arsenal is willing to pay Cech a little over $158,000 per week to the Czech international. Cech, 33, is still considered to be one of the best keepers in Europe, but Courtois development has been phenomenal, and he is the future of Chelsea.
Arsenal has had some difficulties finding a star-level goalkeeper ever since Jens Lehmann left, but Cech would definitely fit the mold. If he joins Arsenal and the numbers reported by the Telegraph are correct, then he would be the highest paid goalie in arsenal history.
Tottenham made its second transfer of the summer as they bought Kieran Trippier from Burnley. The 24-year-old right back as one of few players that had an impressive season despite Burnley getting relegated. Trippier has signed a five-year contract with the Spurs.

The purchase of Trippier has caused the speculations to start about Spurs’ right back Kyle Walker. The Daily Mail reports that Tottenham is ready to offload the 25-year old. Walker struggled with injuries last season, and with Trippier being signed with a starting place in mind, Walker is most likely available now. The Mail also reports that American international DeAndre Yedlin’s future with the club is unsure and it’s either him or Walker that will be leaving White Hart Lane.
Swansea had made its second signing from the French ligue this summer. After getting Andre Ayew from Marseille, the Welsh side has signed Franck Tabanou from St. Etienne. The defender/midfielder has signed a three-year deal. Swansea had a good season in the Premier League, finishing in 8th, right outside a spot in the Europa League. With the addition and Ayew and Tabanou, Swansea should definitely be able to compete for an Europa League spot next season.

Andre-Pierre “Big Mac” Gignac is heading to Mexico. The 29-year-old French striker has signed a deal with Club Tigres in the Mexican league. Gignac left Marseille after his contract expired. Last season he scored 21 league goals for Marseille, and was the second best scorer in the French Ligue 1. Gignac has taken some flack over the years from the Marseille fans for not always being in the best shape, and he will surely enjoy all the good food available to him in Mexico.
