Another summer filled with transfer rumors in the world of soccer. Silly Season is the perfect fix for all soccer junkies during the time most European leagues are on break. Here are some of the latest signings and rumors.
BBC Sport reports that Radamel Falcao is set to go to Chelsea on loan from AS Monaco. The Colombian striker had a disappointing loan spell with Manchester United this season, and only scored four goals in 26 appearances. That is not hindering Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho from taking a gamble and bringing him to Stamford Bridge. Falcao will most likely be the second choice behind Diego Costa.
The Guardian reports that Falcao’s pending arrival at Chelsea has gotten Loic Remy to seek clarification on his role in the team. The 28-year-old Frenchman wants to get as much playing time as possible to get a shot at making the French national team for the upcoming European Championship that takes place in France next summer. Remy was the third choice behind Costa and Didier Drogba last season, and if Falcao joins the team he might want to leave for a club that can guarantee him ample playing time.
Southampton has completed the purchase of Spanish striker Juanmi. The Saints confirmed the transfer on their website Tuesday. Juanmi scored eight goals for Malaga last season and he’s the first purchase of the summer for Southampton.

ESPN FC reports that Manchester City have come to an agreement with Fulham for promising youngster Patrick Roberts. The 18-year-old winger is on the radar for several big clubs in England, but according to ESPN FC’s sources, he will be joining City. Roberts is a U-19 international and is one of the biggest prospects in England. City needs to add to their quota of “home-grown” players now that Frank Lampard, Micah Richards and James Milner have left the club.
AC Milan fired Filippo Inzaghi as manager and replaced him with Sinisa Mihajlovic. The news was confirmed on the team’s website. Mihajlovic, 46, had a long playing career in Italy with Inter Milan and Lazio and his latest coaching spell was with Sampdoria. Milan had a disappointing season, finishing 10th in the Italian Serie A and missing out both the Champions League and the Europa League.
The Daily reports that both Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in Everton’s right back John Stones. Stones is regarded as one of the most promising English players in the Premier League and he is currently with the English U-21 national team in the Czech Republic for the U-21 European Championship. The 21-year-old defender played in 28 games for Everton this season in the Premier League and the Europa League. In addition to United and Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal are rumored to be interested in Stones as well.
Liverpool are gearing up to put another bid on Nathaniel Clyne according to the Liverpool Echo. It’s not a secret that Liverpool is looking for a new right back as they are letting Glen Johnson leave as his contract expires at the end of the month.
The Southampton defender has been impressive for a couple of seasons now, and Liverpool are hoping that they can get the deal done with another bid after the first one was rejected. Clyne, 24, has one year left on his deal with Southampton. As Clyne has become an English international during his time at Southampton, he won’t come cheap for Liverpool.
