We are only days away from the start of the January transfer window. A lot of clubs will be looking to bolster their squads.

With big clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea faltering in the Premier League, and Barcelona getting their transfer ban lifted, we should expect a busy transfer window. Chelsea might not be as active as they should, seeing that they will appoint a new manager in the summer, but they are in desperate need of a striker as the loan of Falcao has been a complete bust. First-choice striker Diego Costa has tested the patience of teammates and fans alike with his antics on the field along with having trouble scoring.

United is on a terrible run of eight games without a win in all competitions, and there are still rumors surrounding manager Louis van Gaal. No matter what happens at the managerial position at United, the club should be active in the transfer market, as they are also in desperate need of a proven goalscorer. Both United and Chelsea are rumored to be interested in Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez.

Liverpool are looking for a new goalkeeper, and it seems like Paris Saint-Germain backup Salvatore Sirigu is the first choice for the Reds. The Italian keeper is said to have several clubs interested in his services, including AS Roma, Newcastle and Aston Villa.

Barcelona has a phenomenal starting XI, but the squad is a bit thin so look for the Catalans to bring in a couple of new faces to widen the squad. Luckily for them, they will be able to register Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal as the pair has been forced to sit out the first half of the season because of the transfer ban.

Rumors are that 19-year-old Brazilian striker Robert will be the team’s first signing when the transfer window opens. Real Madrid are believed to have the upper hand in the hunt for Croatian wonderkid Ante Coric. The 18-year-old midfielder is the latest of gems that has come through the system at Dynamo Zagreb, who has had player like Luka Modric, Milan Badelj, Mateo Kovacic and Mario Mandzukic.

In Italy, AC Milan are said to want to sell off a couple of players, including Japanese midfielder Keisuke Honda, in order to bolster the transfer coffers and wage budget. Inter defender Nemanja Vidic is said to be of interest to Milan who wants an experienced player next to Alessio Romagnoli.

Lazio are on the hunt for a central defender as Stefan De Vrij recently underwent surgery. Juventus and Inter are said to have announced their interest for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas are reports have circulated that the Spanish international wants to leave Stamford Bridge.

Get ready for a wild month of rumors, deals and all out insanity. Some rumors will have to be taken with a grain (or a whole shaker) of salt, but it’s a wonderful time for all Silly Season addicts.

So sit back and enjoy the calm before the storm as the transfer window opens on New Year’s Day.
