Inter Milan took a hard fought 1-0 victory against Torino on the road on Sunday, a win that put the Nerazzurri level with Fiorentina at the top of Serie A.
Geoffrey Kondogbia scored the lone goal of the game in the 31st minute. The 22-year-old French midfielder has been impressive since joining the team from AS Monaco in the summer.
“We’re building a group where all players are important. It’s a good win today against a tough opponent,” Inter manager Roberto Mancini told inter.it after the win.
Inter went with a 3-5-2 formation, and Mancini was pleased with the way his side performed.
“That’s the way we needed to play to beat Ventura’s side,” Mancini said. “They’re a difficult side to face and the risk was that if we didn’t score it could have turned out like the match at San Siro last year, when we dominated but ended up losing.”
Mancini also answered questions regarding Inter’s title chances this season, but he was quick to point out that they are not the favorites as so many new players has come into the side.
“The Scudetto?,” Mancini said. “The others have an advantage because they have been playing together for a long time. We’ve been together since August. We’re trying to create a quality group, with young players that have room for improvement. The secret to us conceding so few goals? We have a good goalkeeper, the defense itself is defending well and the midfield and forward lines are doing a great job. It’s down to the whole team.”
Inter sits in second place in the Serie A standing with 27 points in 12 matches. Fiorentina leads the league on goal difference.
