With the start of the European soccer leagues just around the corner, Silly Season is in full bloom as teams to try improve their squads for the upcoming season. Here are some of the latest transfers and rumors from the world of soccer.
Inter Milan has signed Stevan Jovetic to an 18-month loan-deal from Manchester City. The deal also has a buy out clause, meaning that if the 25-year-old Montenegrin striker performs well, Inter can pay City a predetermined sum of money and make him a permanent member of the Milano club. Jovetic spent two years in Manchester and scored eight goals in 28 Premier League games.
Inter has been extremely active on the transfer market this summer as they try to improve from last season’s disappointing 8th place finish. That means that Inter will not be participating in any European club competitions this upcoming season, so the focus will be on the Serie A and Coppa Italia.

The Daily Mail reports that Paris Saint-Germain is closing in on a deal with Manchester United for Angel Di Maria. The 27-year-old Argentine winger was brought in for big money last summer by United, but his stint at Old Trafford could get cut short. He opened up the season well, but dropped off the map in the second half of the season and ended up getting benched by manager Louis van Gaal. Di Maria failed to meet up with United on the team’s preseason tour in the United States, something that further spurred the rumors that he’s on his way out.
PSG will reportedly pay around $69 million for the Argentine international that has 66 caps for Argentina on his resume. Di Maria featured in 27 league games during his first season with United, scoring three goals. Rumors are that United will look to replace Di Maria with Barcelona winger Pedro if the deal with PSG goes through.
The Turkish league keeps adding some big names. Galatasaray has brought in Lukas Podolski and Fenerbahce signed Robin van Persie. Besiktas is now the latest club to add a big name signing in German striker Mario Gomez. The 30-year-old forward will join Besiktas on a season-long loan with a buyout option from Fiorentina.
Gomez, who has 60 caps for the German national team, scored seven goals in 29 Serie A games during his two seasons with Fiorentina. Gomez is seen as the replacement for Demba Ba who left Besiktas for Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese Super League.

Chelsea has been actively trying to get the 21-year-old defender to Stamford Bridge, but now both Manchester teams have taken up the fight. According to reports, United is willing to offer cash plus defender Jonny Evans in a deal for Stones.
It’s no secret that united is looking for another central defender, and the club recently lost out on luring Sergio Ramos away from Real Madrid.
